The Island is called the island of Beautiful Waters' due to its crystal clear seas and palm tree fringed beaches. The island is divided into two parts by the sea which forms a river ' La Rivière Salée' between the chalky region of Grande Terre and the volcanic region of Basse Terre.

Basse Terre is home to the ‘Parc Naturel,’ with one of the best tropical rain forest reserves of the West Indies and also “La Soufriere volcano. It offers great hiking trails, countless waterfalls, tranquil unspoilt rivers and numerous sites of outstanding natural beauty.
